You won’t read this email (unless you like art)
If you're reading this email, that’s a minor miracle. If you finish it, amazing! I'll keep it brief.
I’ve been trying to pitch brands on sponsoring a music festival I’m producing called Tropic of Cancer.
Sending formal pitch decks weren’t getting responses, I’m pretty sure people weren’t even opening the attachment. (I mean, do you really get pumped for a PowerPoint deck?)
Between short attention spans in jammed inboxes, people are busy. I realized I needed to make an emotional connection.
So, I began to substitute watercolor paintings for pitch decks. Rather than a pitch deck, they get an art piece. It’s fun to produce, forces constraint, and it's been working!
I thought I'd share my process, perhaps these watercolors (more below) will inspire your pitches.
I start by distilling what I want to propose—this is really the hard part. It's easy to be verbose. I sketch the concept myself and attach some photos.
I know a wonderful artist named Francisco who does the sketch (based on my distillation of what I’d like to pitch) and then he paints it once I've approved the concept. If you want to use Francisco, let me know, I will connect you on Fivver.
What do you think? Happy to brainstorm a beautiful watercolor as a pitch for something you're working on. We’d love to work with you, just reply to this email.
